Window Trim Started

We've been plugging away at things upstairs.  Colin has started to trim the windows.  There are 10 windows in total, including the triple at the back.  Here is the west in the blue room, with trim 95% complete.  The hallway has also been painted (Concord Ivory to continue the yellow from the front hall), and Charlotte's room is just about ready for paint.

Blue Room

We made some good progress on the upstairs this weekend.  Colin finished installing and painting the new ceiling above the stairs.  Alyssa finished painting the ceiling and walls in what we are calling "The Blue Room."  It is a strong color, but we thought it would be nice to have a bright color for the playroom/rec space.  (The color is Mill Springs Blue by Benjamin Moore.)

New Drywall Primed

We finally got some priming done today.  We primed all the new drywall in the "blue room" (above, and not yet blue) and in Charlotte's room and the hallway outside Alistair's room (below).  Next is priming the old walls.

Gable on Side Porch

Yesterday, they framed out the gable over the new (yet to be constructed) stairs. We found a perfect example of the design we wanted on a porch in Woodstock Vermont. They are also making progress on the porch trim. We had to be a little creative with the trim at the corner where the difference in roof slopes meant the top of the facia on the two sides didn't match. It turned out great.

Porch Progress

The porch is coming along quickly. They are starting to put on the trim on the back porch. The side porch was in pretty bad shape, so they stipped off the old standing seam roof, the shingles underneath, and the rotten clapboards below the windows. Both windows over the side porch have also been replaced. The back of the house is done. The triple window looks great with the new siding and trim.

Salmon Pink

We noticed today a small patch of salmon pink paint on the siding on the back of the house. It was behind the old porch. The house we rented when we first moved up here was salmon pink, so it's not that unusual of a color. We wondered when it was painted that color. You can also see a tiny sliver of the horribly boring beige color the house was painted when we bought it.
